About ThirdGen

The name ‘Third Gen’ is a nod to our heritage as we are third generation coffee farmers from Honduras. Honoring our history, and creating a pathway for future generations, is our way of appreciating the hard work and dedication of the generations before us.

Marlon and Rachel Reyes (our owners of Third Gen Coffee) met in college after Marlon left Honduras moving to Rachel’s home state of Louisiana for college. As their relationship grew, they both knew that their passion for coffee would be a part of their new family’s story.

Marlon’s grandfather, Jesus Reyes, was the first in the family to cultivate coffee. At the time, it was very difficult to make a profit as a farmer, and eventually the original farm was lost. Decades later, the children of Jesus, wanting to revitalize the process and Jesus’ legacy, returned to coffee farming in 2010, developing a new project near El Zapote in Siguatepeque, Honduras.

Marlon and Rachel have been instrumental in bringing coffee to market through several family coffeeshops in Honduras, called Sigua Coffee. But, knowing they wanted to root their young family in the Houston area, Marlon and Rachel settled in The Woodlands and have been building on the family legacy as Third Gen Coffee, since 2017.

Coffee has the unique ability to create connections with family and friends, and often creates an intentional break in the day for those connections to transpire. Coffee and connecting with others are both a major part of our stories, in Honduras and South Louisiana. We drink coffee all day. We have meaningful conversations all throughout the day. And, being able meet so many amazing people throughout the community of The Woodlands has been so rewarding and meaningful for us, and grateful we’ve found our new home!

We primarily source from our farm in Honduras, but we also like to serve coffee from different origins as well. Through our partnership with Copan Trade, a local coffee importer located in Tomball, Texas, we utilize direct trade relationships with many different coffee growing regions around the world. Direct trade is meaningful to us because we know first-hand the hard work involved with farming, and the importance of getting the best price for the coffee, which in turn supports their farm, the quality of coffee, and ultimately their quality of life.

We are a Third Generation Coffee Farming Family.
